There, you will find the things that are required as well as what is acceptable and not acceptable for painting designs. ATTENTION ALL STUDENT DRIVERS AND PARENTS OF STUDENT DRIVERS

OUR SLHS PARKING PERMIT SALES FOR THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR WILL OCCUR AS FOLLOWS:

We will be selling permits to Seniors first, for one day, then we will open up permit sales to everyone, including underclassmen, who meet the criteria.

  • Our day for Seniors ONLY will be Thursday, July 27th from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the media center.

  • Our day for all other students will be Monday, July 31st, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the media center.

There may be additional days for permit sales after July 31st and prior to the start of school. Please keep checking this webpage for those dates, times, and locations.

Additional Information

There is no longer a designated “Senior Lot.” All students will be assigned a parking space, even in the lower lot (students will get to choose location of spot based on availability). However, Seniors wishing to paint their spaces will be required to park in in the upper lot, as we are only painting spaces in the upper lot. No lower lot spaces will be painted.

Parking Permits will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis to those students who have completed all the necessary paperwork and steps. Students lacking paperwork completion, lacking funds, or lacking a cleared Destiny account will be sent back home to complete necessary steps. Permit sales will continue until all spaces have been claimed. Once all spaces have been claimed, then students still wishing to purchase a permit will be placed on a waiting list (in the order they alert the appropriate SLHS staff of their intention to purchase a permit) and called up when a space becomes available. In this interim period, these students will need to use alternative transportation (parent pick up/drop off, bus, walk, bicycle, or ride with a friend). Students found parking on campus without a valid permit will receive a $40 parking violation fine and a referral to administration.

Parking spaces cannot be held or reserved in advance due to the student not being in town at the time or permit sales. If this becomes the case for a student, we suggest having an adult relative designated who can come to the school on the day of permit sales and secure the spot. Friends cannot purchase parking permits for other students. If this arrangement needs to be made, then the student will need to email administration and inform them who the relative is and what day they will be coming to the school. The student is responsible for making sure that relative has all the necessary paperwork and funds available. If anything is missing or wrong, the relative will be asked to make contact with the student and rectify the issue(s) before returning.

Students with an unweighted GPA lower than 2.0 will not be allowed to purchase a permit. This determination is based on the student’s Focus (formerly Skyward) account. These students will need to work on academics in the first semester and get their GPAs to a 2.0 or higher before they can be eligible to purchase a permit. In this interim period, these students will need to use alternative transportation (parent pick up/drop off, bus, walk, bicycle, or ride with a friend). Students found parking on campus without a valid permit will receive a $40 parking violation fine and a referral to administration.

Procedures

Students, please download a copy of the 2023-24 application (located on our school website), follow the instructions, and have it ready when you arrive. It has four pages, requires student, parental, and witness signatures, requires copies be made of several items, requires information about the vehicle being permitted, and requires funds. School copiers will not be available during permit pickup, so please have these copies with you when you arrive. All photocopies being submitted must be readable, and they will remain at the school as part of the completed packet. Pictures on smartphones will not be accepted.

PARENTS, IF YOU WISH TO USE A SCHOOL AUTHORITY AS YOUR WITNESS TO YOUR SIGNATURE ON PAGE 3, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THE APPLICATION UNTIL YOU ARE ASKED TO DO SO BY ONE OF OUR SCHOOL PERSONNEL ON THE DAY YOUR BRING THE APPLICATION TO THE SCHOOL. WE CANNOT WITNESS A SIGNATURE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN. 😊 If a parent cannot bring the application personally at the time of permit distribution, then we suggest the parent secure another witness who is 18 years of age or older to be the witness prior to the student submitting the application.

If you have any questions that are not answered on the application or in any of the other paperwork, to include this information above, you may contact Mr. Thompson at thompsonc@lake.k12.fl.us.
