Attendance

HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE POLICY (as written in the Student Code of Conduct)

Student Code of Conduct

DEFINITION OF EXCUSED AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCE

Excused absences include: medical, court, academic field trips, death in family, or exceptional circumstances. Absences shall be documented with parent notes, doctor’s notes, court notices, or other authorized documentation to verify the absences.

Two parent notes per 9 week period will be excused. All other undocumented absences will be counted as unexcused.

PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCE FORM

The student must obtain a pre-arranged absence form from the attendance office in advance of the absence. The parent/guardian must sign the form, and then the student must secure the signature of every teacher for every class in which he/she is currently enrolled. The form must then be returned to the attendance clerk who will submit it to the principal for approval.  The Prearranged Absence form must be returned to the attendance clerk at least two (2) days before the first day of the absence.

SUSPENSION DAYS

The first suspension does not apply toward the 4 unexcused absences affecting the semester grade. Any subsequent suspensions will count toward the 4 days.

TARDY POLICY PER 9 WEEKS

A student is considered tardy to class after the bell unless excused by a note from school personnel.

3 tardies per 9 week period = 1 unexcused absence

Missing 20 minutes or more of a class constitutes an absence
