The Lake County Sheriff's Office has scheduled two Active Assailant Scenario Training sessions for all school resource deputies and officers in the county. The goal is to create a more lifelike, realistic training environment for the deputies and officers who serve our schools. To that end, they need student volunteers to participate in the training. If your child is in high school or is moving from middle school into high school for the 2026-27 school year, he or she is eligible to participate and earn community service hours.

The training sessions are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, August 6, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at LifePointe Church, 3551 E. Orange Ave., Eustis FL 32736 (150 volunteers needed)

  • Friday, August 7, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Umatilla Middle School, 305 E. Lake Street, Umatilla FL 32784 (150 volunteers needed)

Students who attend one day of training will receive 10 community service hours. Students who attend both days of training will receive 25 community service hours.

Lunch and water will be provided.
